In 1999, to further recognize exceptional nurses caring for patients, the Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania added another accolade, The Patient Choice Award. In the Spring of that year, a press release was issued asking patients to write a letter describing a nurse who had touched their lives or the lives of their families in an unforgettable way. One nurse was chosen from the many letters which were received.

Has a special nurse touched YOUR life?

Write a letter, no more than 500 words, and tell us about your beloved nurse. If your letter is selected, you and a guest will be invited to Harrisburg to join us in honoring this special nurse at the Nightingale Gala on Friday, November 3, 2017. Your nurse will receive an acknowledgment never to be forgotten!

Application Process
  • Write a letter describing a nurse who touched you or a family member in an unforgettable manner. Please note that you are not permitted to nominate yourself or a member of your family.
  • Provide the nurse's name and place of employment.
  • Provide your contact information.
The application must be complete at the time of submission to be considered.
